The picture on the left you see a picture of the Moniter, the Unions ironclad veddel. This ship was the second which was made becsue the South took the ironclad when the war began. So the north made one too. When the Moniter and the Merrimack battled neither of the battles were destroyed because they were made of iron, and the battle lasted hours. They battle ended in the Merrimack leaving. The Moniter only had two guns and they were on the turret. It was a big invention for the wars. Almost nothing could destroy the boat. Also if you look just above the Moniter on the hill you will see a signal tower. These were used to send coded messages during the Civil War.
Here in this picture you see men that perished at the battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg is a battle that was three days long and there were 51,000 casualities, missing in action, and wounded on both the union and 9 Union and confederate generals were also killes during the three day battle. General Picket ordered a charge, the charge was about one mile long on July third 1863. The charge would be a Union victory, the estimate casualities of the charge were 1500 for the Union, and 6000 for the South. That was the last battle of Gettysburg and it was the last time Lee would try to invade the north.
